Nestled into a booth in the Attic at Nick’s English Hut, Chad gazed lovingly at Jen. Sitting in Nick’s during the Old Oaken Bucket game could have been distracting for Chad and Jen, two IU alumni, but they were able to ignore the clamor of the crowd of avid IU fans to enjoy their time together. It was only a few hours before their wedding in Indiana University’s Alumni Hall, but they wanted to stop off at one of their favorite bars for a few pictures with their bride party at the bar and also a few beers.

Though the bar was crowded with many people out to watch the Old Oaken Bucket game between the IU Hoosiers and the Purdue University Boilermakers (the game was played in West Lafayette this year so Bloomington residents took to the bars to watch the game over the Thanksgiving break), the patrons gladly let the bridal party take over one side of the bar for photos. After a particularly heart wrenching play that had many fans at the bar on their feet, yelling at the televisions complaining about an ugly play, one customer shouted out to the bride, “Not you! You’re beautiful!” Many more people shouted out their congratulations to the couple after that. It was a fun place to stop to take some pictures.

Before stopping at Nick’s, Chad and Jen had an intimate revealing at Beck Chapel, next to the Union. Surprisingly there were several weddings scheduled to take place in the chapel throughout the day, but the coordinator was nice enough to let us do the revealing in the doorway to the chapel between wedding ceremonies. The overhang of the doorway provided a little harborage from the rain. Chad and Jen’s wedding day was so much fun, and we are so glad we were able to be a part of it. We absolutely loved visiting so many places on and around Indiana University’s campus throughout the day.
