Sanctuary on Penn | Downtown Indianapolis Photographers | Caroline and Collan

FILED IN: Engagements

Collan held Caroline, their foreheads touching, in front of the venerable Sanctuary on Penn. The light reflecting off the the building’s aged profile was folded back on itself in my prism, reflecting the arch at the back entrance on itself, creating a diamond held askew in a never-ending sky, free from the shackles of this earth and the vines that claw at its walls and seek to hold it here. We are so excited to be able to capture Caroline and Collan’s wedding, like the engagement, in downtown Indianapolis at a historical building that is 140 years old this year. I wonder when I see the Sanctuary on Penn if the congregation that built the Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church (as it was originally called) knew that their building would last this long and still be a place where people would come to see their lives changed forever.
