The brick walkway held the first fallen leaves of autumn, caught the last time a chilly breeze cut through the crisp autumn air. As Brittany approached Chuck at the end of the walkway, the train of her exquisite wedding dress swept the withering leaves along with her stride, rattling as they scraped along on the brick. Chuck stood with his back turned to Brittany, but as she neared a smile cracked across his face and a twinkle arose in his eyes. He turned to meet her and quickly pulled her into his arms. There they stood for several moments, clinging to one another on their wedding day as they prepared to make official what was already evident in their loving relationship.
Chuck and Brittany were married in the historic Laurel Hall on the northeast side of Indianapolis. Laurel Hall was built ninety nine years ago (in 1916), by Stoughton A. Fletcher the second, to serve as his family home. His family’s residency in the home was short lived though as a few years later after the end of World War I he lost his fortune and was forced to declare bankruptcy. Through the following years Laurel Hall (named for Stoughton’s mother) has had several owners and served a multitude of purposes. It now serves as the headquarters for the Phi Kappa Psi Foundation, who rent it the elegant estate for weddings and other events. It is a beautiful piece of Indianapolis history and a lovely venue. We are so glad that we were able to capture Brittany and Chuck’s wonderful wedding in Laurel Hall.
