The ground gave way underneath the foot in Avon Gardens, as if one were stepping onto a giant trampoline. Though it hadn’t rained all day, it had rained every day of the week leading up to Andrea and Scott’s wedding. The trees in the gardens were in full bloom and the thick grass was a deep, solid green, springy to the touch and forceful enough that if someone fell it might just bounce them back to their feet. As Andrea and Scott left the cobblestone pathways and headed out into a clearing of lush grass to take some portraits, they seemed full of passion . On the cusp of their wedding, in the opulent gardens, they held each other close, with their foreheads pressed together and eyes locked on one another with deep affection. There was no doubt that they were profoundly in love.
Andrea and Scott’s wedding was so much fun! From the very first second that I spoke with the two of them, I just felt like I clicked with them. Every weekend I leave my children to capture weddings of couples with whom Steve and I have a wide range of familiarity. Some we are meeting for the first time on their wedding day, while others we cannot wait to hang out with after the “I dos” and honeymoon. Andrea & Scott were the latter. Their wedding felt less like work and more like spending the day with two friends. I had so much fun capturing all of the wonderful moments they shared with each other, their kids, their family and friends. Plus, it was a blast to get to spend the day around their kids who are both so close to my son’s age. At the engagement shoot I did with them I brought Steve and Iain with me so that Iain could play with their son and daughter while I captured some portraits of just Andrea and Scott. Iain loved their kids. He asked me before the wedding if he could go too, because he wanted to play with his friends from the orchard (their engagement shoot was at an orchard). Unfortunately for him, he stayed home with Steve and his new baby sister Eleanor during this wedding. I loved how they styled their wedding. I loved that it catered not only to their friends and family but to the younger guests as well. Snacks and kid-friendly food made it enjoyable for everyone who attended, and the food from Scratchtruck and the donuts from Rocket 88 Doughnuts were amazing.
