The Historic Ambassador House and Heritage Gardens Wedding | Fishers, IN | Chelsea & Josh

FILED IN: Weddings

As Josh read Chelsea the note he had written to her for their wedding day, both of their eyes welled up with tears. He spoke softly, barely above a whisper, and I felt myself wanting to step closer to hear what he had to say. The sky was slightly overcast, and the thin layer of clouds, upset that Josh was so soft-spoken, stretched down to hear his words. His voice was soft, but firm, and Chelsea began to cry while listening to him. A slight breeze blew around the Stone House and picked up Josh’s hushed voice, lifting it to clouds above.  The clouds, filled with longing, began to tear up as well.

Inside the Historic Ambassador House in Fishers, Indiana, Chelsea’s dad grabbed an umbrella and quickly handed it to Steve (who was already running away from the Stone House in search of an umbrella). Chelsea and Josh, standing outside in the rain, did not seek cover. They were caught in the moment, looking at each other with tears in their eyes. When Steve brought the umbrella close, Josh reached for it without breaking eye contact with Chelsea. He stood straight with his shoulders back and his chin up, his dapper, handlebar mustache refusing to droop through the rain and tears. After he finished reading his note, Chelsea read her note and the clouds did not stop crying quiet tears of unrelenting joy until after she was done.

With tears still on their cheeks, after reaffirming their love for one another, Josh leaned down to kiss Chelsea. The clouds regained their composure, and in their haste to make it look like they had not been eavesdropping, they parted. A little sunlight fell down on top of the umbrella, just as Josh, overwhelmed with love during this kiss dropped his hand ever-so-slightly for the first time since receiving the umbrella. The moment was magical, to say the least, and I’m so glad Steve and I were there to witness it all.
