On the sidewalk in front their house, the house they looked at together the day they got engaged, the house they live in now, with the sun’s golden rays beating a path to down to the earth through the leaves of the trees, they embraced. It was a gentle embrace, but powerful. Holding their love, their hopes and dreams, their relationship in the balance. Just being there with one another, with the warmth of the sun on them, it was enough for a lifetime.
I had a lot fun capturing Rachel and Jake’s engagement shoot in the Old Northside Historic District. The area was really fitting to their general aesthetic, a sort of minimalist 60s look. I would say like Mad Men, but they are both way too sweet and bubbly to have to suffer a comparison to any of the characters on that show. Jake is a pilot, so when we saw a green plane in a playground, we had to take some pictures with it. Unfortunately it wasn’t big enough for both of them to climb in at the same time, but the pictures are some of my favorite. It was a great shoot, and I cannot wait until their wedding this upcoming September. It’s just too bad that Ozzie, their adorable cat, won’t be at the wedding.
