Downtown Indianapolis Engagement | Wedding Photographers in Indy | Kaitlyn & Jon

FILED IN: Engagements

The light of the setting sun, warm and golden, reflected off the buildings in downtown Indianapolis. A line of buildings stood with their backs to the sun, only catching sight of those golden rays of light as they reflected off the surrounding buildings. One building, with thin, vertical windows, ensnared those reflections in its windows, trapping the beautiful images it beheld. In front of these windows, Kaitlyn and Jon became entangled in each other’s arms, as they were already enmeshed in their hearts, on a beautiful, warm day in early March.

Two weeks after giving birth to my daughter, Eleanor, I had scheduled Steve to do an engagement shoot with Kaitlyn and Jon. Three days before the shoot, I was feeling great, and I wanted to start working again. So I asked Steve if he would rather stay home with kids, and then I packed the gear so I could head downtown for the shoot. It felt so good to hold the camera in my hands again after my short break from work for the pregnancy. I am so glad I decided to capture this engagement shoot too, because I had so much fun with Kaitlyn and Jon. We did the whole shoot in downtown Indy, walking from the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument at Monument Circle to Indianapolis Public Library’s Central Library building and then to Tapas Barcelona. Kaitlyn and Jon were delightfully goofy during the shoot and incredibly nice. I laughed a lot talking with them, as they told me about how they met teaching, and how they both have a background in theater. It was such a great day, with such a great couple. Kaitlyn and Jon made my first shoot after the pregnancy so much fun, and I am so glad that I did not let Steve do the shoot.

Their wedding was just a few weeks ago, and I cannot wait to share that as well.
