On the eastern edge of a tan soybean field, Linsey and Nate stood separated from their guests, family, and the noise of their reception. The sun was dipping below the tree line on the western horizon, and the light was fading fast on the dry bean field. A slight breeze picked up, not enough to rattle the pods in the field, but enough to ruffle Linsey’s hair. Nate leaned into the breeze and kissed his bride one last time before the sun set on their wedding day.
Linsey and Nate were married on a historic farmstead in Fort Wayne, far from the imposing towers that dominated the skyline of their engagement shoot in Chicago. The historic farmstead, Marian Hills Farm, was established before the Civil War. The old house, where the bridal party was hidden away before the start of the wedding, was built a little more than two decades before the Civil War started. The barn in which Linsey and Nate’s wedding was held, was built in the 19th century, about 40 years after the old house was built. The limestone silo attached to the barn is beautiful The buildings are immaculately well kept up, but still retain their aged quality. Crossing the threshold of either building feels like stepping back in time, a century long step. It was a beautiful place for Linsey and Nate to hold their wedding ceremony and reception, and we are so glad that we were able to be a part of it.
