It was hot in Columbus, Indiana. My weather app had the temperature pinged at 85 degrees, but it also said that with the humidity it would feel like 95 degrees. The gardens at the Inn at Irwin Gardens are sunk down a few feet below street level and surrounded by trees, so there was no breeze down in the garden. It felt like 95 degrees. Stuart, the groom, was wearing a tweed suit. It looked extremely charming, but it also looked like it was made to hold in the heat. Yet, when Stuart’s brother handed him a handkerchief as Rachel, the bride, was escorted down the aisle, no one even thought for a second that it was to dab away sweat. Stuart had tears running down his face. He stood in front of his family and friends, with tears of joy welling up in his eyes as he saw his beautiful bride for the first time on their wedding day. He was not the only person crying in that moment. This was just one of the many wonderful moments from Rachel and Stuart’s wedding, and I’m so thankful Steve and I were able to witness it.

Later during the reception the DJ from Midnight Express announced the bridal party and the bride and groom. After the bride and groom made their way to the bridal table, the DJ said, “It’s so amazing that the rain has held off today.” That was apparently the cue the storm clouds had been waiting to hear, and as soon as the last word rolled off the DJ’s tongue the sky let loose and the tent was filled with a low roar as thousands of raindrops bounced off of the roof each second. When the rain began to die down, the caterer from On The Spot came over to let me know he’d seen a faint rainbow beginning to appear. Rachel, Stuart, and I took off immediately to grab a few quick shots of this miracle on their magnificent wedding day. It was a spectacular day, and Steve and I had so much fun capturing this wedding. Please enjoy a few of the pictures from this lovely day below.
