Making Your Invitation Decision | Basic Invite | Beautiful Paper for a Beautiful Wedding

FILED IN: Wedding Tip

Today, I would like to do something a little different. A lot of our couples know that I nerd out when it comes to planning (I love it). It brings me great joy to help out couples looking for wedding advice. Instead of blogging about one of our amazing couples today, we’d like to highlight an amazing vendor, Basic Invite.

One thing to consider while picking out invitations is that it is the first impression of your wedding. What you are portraying is the type of atmosphere your guests should expect. Is it a formal event or are you hoping for a more casual setting? You want the invite to be a proper reflection of your wedding day. Also, you don’t want to leave out any important info. Finding invite sets that have everything you need can be aggravating.

Here are some things to consider when you are picking your paper.

Find full sets to make pre- and post-wedding mailing easy.  We worked with Basic Invite at one of our spring weddings, and we were beyond impressed. The quality was great, but it was also a perfect fit with the bride and groom’s wedding decor and party. Since Basic Invite has over 200 invitation sets to choose from, our couple was able to find the perfect classic wedding invitation.  Also, the last thing you want to do after your wedding is make more wedding decisions. I love that it is easy to find matching thank you cards, since thank you sets can be added in an invite order. It is nice to get it out of the way and order thank you cards before the wedding.

Don’t be afraid of color. Receptions are full of fun and even the most formal event can be dressed up with an accent of color. If you want your invitation to be full of color or highlight one of your accents, Basic Invite has over 180 colors to choose from. Basic Invite also has 40 different colors for your envelopes. If only I knew about Basic Invite a year ago, they would have been my first choice for a baby announcement. There was a particular shade of pink I wanted to use and low and behold, “Tea Rose” was in the list of invite colors. If color isn’t your thing, there is a gold or silver foil option that can give your invites the little personal touch you were wanting.

Here is one thing I cannot stress enough, custom samples are king. Basic Invite makes it easy to customize your invites so you are able to see it online. What’s even more fantastic is that you can actually have a sample of the paper you are considering with your exact invitation printed on the front. You’ll be holding the exact invite that your guests will be holding even before you’ve ordered your invitations. You’ll know exactly what you’ll be ordering. I love that!

Order separate save the dates and shower invites. It’s always nice to receive something pretty in your mailbox. If you order your invites to fit your wedding, consider ordering save the dates to reflect your personalities. Basic invite has inexpensive save the date choices, which are gorgeous. You can also share some of your favorite bridal shower invitations with your bridesmaids, so you can have a beautiful keepsake from the party.

I think invitations can be overlooked sometimes. I hear from many couples that photography is the only thing you get to keep from your day, besides your spouse. What about your paper? Let’s not forget, years from now once your little ones or nieces or nephews are running around the house, they’ll be pulling out that shoe box full of your wedding paper. Why not keep something gorgeous?

May your wedding be great, but may your marriage be even more beautiful. All the best!
