The weeping leaves of a willow tree hung low over a steel stringer bridge spanning an abandoned railbed. As Leah and Jay crossed over the Indianapolis Museum of Art East Bridge, hand in hand, Jay stopped and looked down at the wooden planks making up the deck of the bridge and Leah shot him a look, imbued in love. As a third party, capturing the moment, it was hard not to feel the love that look carried, as I stared through my lens at the two of them backlit by the setting sun. Steve and I are excited to be capturing their wedding next year.

While capturing some photos for Leah and Jay’s engagement session at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, we were able to wander over to Oldfields, otherwise known as the Lilly House and Gardens. This part of the IMA is over a century old now, and the Lilly House and Gardens, even after all that time, remain such a visual treat to visitors. Walking through Oldfields, I can feel why people wanted to have country estates, to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Of course, now the city has expanded to encompass this area, but it still feels quiet, peaceful, and secluded. It’s such a lovely place to have in the city.
