A cool breeze blew off the river and ruffled Melissa’s hair as she stood holding hands with her fiancé, Riad. They were standing on the brick pathway of the White River Trail, with the sun at their back. The sun’s golden light was shimmering on the surface of the river behind them. The trees foliage blocked most of the light from falling the engaged couple, while they talked in hushed tones, making each other smile.
I was so fortunate to be able to capture this moment and many more like it during my engagement session with Melissa and Riad in downtown Indy at the White River State Park. That park is one of my favorite places to shoot downtown. The rapid transition from urban buildings to open grass, trees, and the river make it an unique place to do portrait sessions in Indy. Photos can have an urban look or a more natural look just by taking a few steps and repositioning your subject. I had a great time shooting these engagement photos with Melissa and Riad, and Steve and I wish Melissa and Riad all the best with their upcoming wedding in Prague later this year!
