Wedding Wednesday – Behind the Scenes

JVE-001-2

Since we didn’t shoot last week because we were on vacation, there is no wedding to post. Instead, I thought I’d post some of the behind the scene work Steve and I have done. I wish all of these pictures were of my handsome husband but he is usually the one taking the behind the scene pictures.I prefer to do families outdoors. I do not prefer to shoot family portraits outside because they are easier. I prefer to shoot family portraits outside because family members tend to be much more relaxed outside, and when they’re relaxed, their personalities tend to shine. In the picture below, can you find my portrait list?

If I don’t have a camera in hand, I’m probably checking my list to make sure I captured everything I needed to capture for the day.

Steve’s favorite photography pose.

One of my favorite times during a wedding is handing over a slideshow of the day to the couple. I want them to leave for their honeymoon knowing that we captured their day well.

It was very wet that day. My knees were black when I stood back up.

The reflector is good for two things: reflecting back light and hiding the bride from the groom. Oh, actually three. It can be used as a fun, expensive Frisbee as well.

Kids tend to be drawn to Steve.

Steve is not amused (he never is while he is driving).

We are typically with the couple for 7-12 hours. Photographers need to eat too (or in Steve’s case he just needs to sit and gaze off into the distance with a furrowed brow).

I absolutely think I have the best couples.
